Global Shopper

So recently I posted on my Instastories about Aramex Global Shopper - a global shopping enabler. Living in South Africa had some of its challenges when it came to shopping online globally. Every time I saw something I liked I was unable to buy it because There are online stores that still have no option to ship to South Africa directly. What a frustration right? Well, recently I discovered Aramex Global Shopper which has made my life so much easier in terms of online shopping.

How does it work? Say I was buying something online from Dior’s website and Dior does not offer shipping to South Africa, this is where Aramex Global Shopper comes in handy! The service provides you with 23 international addresses to use as your shipping address during your purchase. The great thing is that most online stores offer offer free or really cheap shipping within their Country to the Aramex address, so majority of the time you will only pay for customs duties and shipping!

So I know it probably seems a bit too good to be true so I am going to be walking you through a brief process of how it works.

1. SIGN UP ON ARAMEX GLOBAL SHOPPER APP OR ONLINE

So this is easy, you register online. The Aramex Basic Lifetime Membership is normally R150.00, but they are offering all my followers a discount of R135.00. This means that you will only pay R15.00 if you apply with this promo code: KAMO18

2. BUY YOUR PARCEL ONLINE

You can shop from anywhere in the world, and then select the delivery address closest to your

online retailer. For example, if I am buying Huda Beauty products from Sephora in Dubai, I select all my products and add them to my shopping cart.

3. CHECKOUT AND FILL IN DETAILS

Usually this is the phase where you would fill out your personal details, such as your shipping

address and billing address. When filling out your shipping details, you will refer back to the AGS app or websiteUnder the ‘My Addresses’ tab and look for the Aramex address situated closest to your retailer (In this instance for Sephora, it would be Dubai. Don’t worry, there are examples online (here) of how to fill the shipping section out. Then I fill in my Billing address, which the home address which your debit/credit card is registered.

4. SELECT SHIPPING METHOD

Most online stores will give you the option of a slower free shipping option, or a faster more

expensive option. This choice is up to you as to how fast you would like your parcel to get from the retailer to the Aramex hub.

5. PAY FOR YOUR ITEMS

Here this will proceed as normal, you pay for items.

6. ORDER CONFIRMATION EMAIL

The online retailer, in my case Sephora, will send you an order confirmation number and later, a

shipping confirmation email to notify you that your products have been delivered to the Aramex

hub. It is at this point where you will receive an email from Aramex stating that they have received your parcel. You will receive a waybill number that allows you to track your parcel with Aramex via the app or on the website. Aramex will then ship your items to your door in South Africa.

7. CUSTOMS AND DUTIES

I am glad that this is made a lot easier, because let’s face it, customs is not fun. Aramex will notify you of your customs and duties charges, if there are any, so that you can pay online before they submit your shipment to customs. VAT charges of 15% will be made on the total value of your parcel (the total commodity value and customs duties). Customs and duties charges are stipulated by SARS and depend on the type of commodity and its value.

Now all that is left to do is sit back and wait for your parcel to arrive at your door!

I am so glad that global products are becoming widely accessible to us here in South Africa.
