The Gift Of Adventure.

The year has nearly come to an end… I literally feel blown away and overwhelmed. I’m overwhelmed by how fast this year went, all the lessons I learnt, all the blessings I received, all the curses rebuked, people I’ve met, people that left, places I’ve travelled to, smiles I’ve shared, laughters I’ve had, promises kept, promises broken, hugs and love I’ve received and honestly... I couldn’t feel more blessed than right now.

It’s crazy because they say a year is nothing and I feel that’s so true, a year really does go fast, before you know it, it’s all over. This time of the year is always an emotional period for me, purely because it’s a time where I reflect a lot about the year and people close to me. For me, December is a memorable year for me because it’s my late gran’s birthday month and my late dad’s death anniversary. However, even though that can be sad I think it’s more of positive and happy moment for me because it makes me realise how much I have changed, learnt and grown into the woman I’ve always wanted to become.

Even though in life, we experience some of the worst things, it truly makes us stronger and wiser. I do not regret anything I’ve experienced this year because it made me realise a lot about myself and what I want out of life.

For me, every year is only an adventure. The reason why I say this is because I think of it as taking a flight somewhere. When you fly, you have to prepare for your trip, by packing, organising your travel documents etc. We then travel to the airport; check-in; go through security check; boarder control; board the plane; buckle up; wait for the pilot’s announcement and then after his signal we take off to go to our destination.

If you put it in the perception of life, before the new year approaches, we 'prepare' ourselves for it in some way, by writing new years resolutions. We then go through the last couple of weeks of year, we 'check-in’ maybe with friends and family to catch-up; we go through ‘security check’ by setting our goals to make sure we stay on track with the schedule for the year; we ‘board the plane’ for the new year; wait for the ‘announcement’ for the countdown; then we take off into the new year and work towards our destination.

I think for me, the new year is the gift of new adventures. This is why I love the IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Automatic Watch 36 because I think it’s a great symbol of the ‘gift of adventure’. Not only, do I love how delicate and simply elegant it looks but it’s a watch with a story behind it. However, with every gift you create your own story. This is a perfect gift for someone who enjoys the adventures of life or those that need to be reminded to be more adventurous in life and 'Be a Pilot'. For me, every person is a pilot and I think we all need to be reminded that we are. We are all pilot’s of our own lives. We determine how it goes, by the choices we make. You make the rules. It is your decision whether or not you prepare for it or not.

What are you looking forward to in the new year? Adventure Awaits. What adventure are you awaiting...?
