So we are now only a month away from Christmas and I can't help but think about the past year and the year ahead. I often feel it’s easy to neglect our emotions and thoughts. On my recent flight, I could only think about how I did not want to overthink situations or things but I think sometimes we so often neglect our own thoughts maybe because we are afraid of what lies behind the thoughts we have. Maybe our thoughts hold deeper truths of the things we don’t want to confront ourselves with. Whatever it is, you need the time to think things through.
Sometimes you also need to allow yourself the time to grow through things. We so often neglect these things because of many reasons but I believe you cannot grow until you deal with you first. I always think of our souls or bodies as flowers or a garden. When you plant a flower, in order for the flower to grow you need to feed it the right food - so the right foundation, seed, soil and water. Without these things the flower won’t blossom and without taking care of it, destruction manifests. Weeds grow and if we don’t deal with the root of the problem then and there they manifest into many other problems.
Take care of yourself like a flower, better yet garden. A garden needs consistent maintenance so does your soul. Always take the time to reflect on things, go through things. Don’t be afraid of your thoughts. Confront them. Don’t be afraid to confront yourself about things that don’t sit right with you because this is how we grow. And if we don’t look after ourselves the only person we’re only disappointing and fooling is ourselves. This year for me has been a year of discovery for myself. I've learnt so much but also allowed myself the time to heal, grow and re-discover myself. For the first time in a long time, I know what I actually want in life, my career and my personal relationships. I have so much peace in my heart but I won't lie to you, it took a lot of doing and it was not easy. Allow yourself the time to grow and allow yourself the time to reflect and be in your own space. This is my advice to you.
Let’s reflect on ourselves this year before we get into the new year. Let’s find ways that will assist us in growing and becoming a better person for first ourselves and for others.
Allow yourself the time to grow through what you go through.
