I've always told my clients that simplicity is elegant and I still strive to dress this way. Plain and simple makes a statement. I am really inspired by interesting colour combinations. I really love colours that are feminine paired with a bold and daring colour. I think I'm discovering something new about myself... and that is the creativity of mixing colours.
During Fall Fashion Week 2015, earlier this year I was truly inspired by Roksanda F/W '15 collection. I really love the way the brand experiments with colour. I was specifically blown away by the way Roksanda used burgundy with splash of other vibrant colours such as cobalt. When I first saw this Hermés bag in burgundy, I loved the colour and minimal design. The thing is, when I shop, I try to buy the most minimalistic designs because I want the items to go with everything in my closet. This roll neck sweater dress, in baby blue is extremely comfortable. (yes!) Plus, you can wear it on many occasions, to work with a pencil skirt under or jeans or in my case leggings. I wanted this look, to be that 'I didn't put that much effort into what I'm wearing, but I still look fab, don't I?' look. This is the ultimate 'shopping day' or tea with the ladies, outfit. I think the simple pieces paired together with a statement bag and heel really hits the spot! I've also come to realise that wearing and mixing different tones is an interesting aspect to dressing. I love the fact that the tone of blue in my shoes, is completely different to the roll neck, yet the tone of the shoes still picks up the tones the grey tone of my leggings. See? mixing tones. I think grey is the most neutral seasonal colour that goes with everything and really adds a delicate touch of colour to any outfit.
What do you think? What some of your favourite ways to make a bold statement simply?
#STYLETIP: The trick here is to pair simple items with bold accessory items such as shoes, a brooch or even earrings. Be careful not to over accessorise because it could start to look tacky. Wearing loose fitting tops with a fitted bottom, accentuates your body, so mix silhouettes, and find a feature to show off.
#SHOPPINGTIP: I have put together a few alternatives that could also work in the office or a casual day out. Pair longer sweater dresses with a light coloured legging (such as grey or nude) to achieve the pastel feminine look and add a bold coloured bag to make a statement.
