Current Fav Hair Products

My most promised current favourite hair products are finally here! It’s been quiet a while since I’ve been on the blog but you know how the city life can suck you in… I’ve missed you guys. So today we’re talking about hair, the most questioned topic I always get asked about so today I’m covering the haircare section as briefly and honest as possible. A lot of you will know that I have clip-in extensions in my hair (or currently, a full lace unit) but, it is SO important to take care of your natural hair. So let’s get down to business..

WASHCARE

Gary Rom Shampoo

So as mentioned on my Snapchat and Instastories before that I did my hair at Gary Rom a couple of weeks ago for a Great Gatsby themed party that I attended with a friend. I was quiet impressed with the salon purely because they did a hair assessment before they started working on my hair. Sara Adank, a friend of mine referred me to their hair salon. Gary Rom sent me some new hair products to try out on my hair and I must say I was honestly impressed.

So the Gary Rom shampoo for dry hair was one of the best shampoo’s I have tried. I’m usually not a huge fan of shampoo because of the dry texture it gives your hair after washing the product out. But I loveeeed this shampoo because it did the complete opposite because not only is the lather of shampoo silky smooth but after application and washing it out, my hair honestly felt so smooth, moisturised and silky, almost the same feeling as what conditioner feels like after washing it out.

HOW TO USE

  • Apply an even amount of shampoo into your wet hair and massage the shampoo into your scalp for 5 minutes, until the lather turns into foam.

  • Make sure to lightly scratch your scalp to get rid of all the dirt.

  • Wash out the shampoo with clean water, making sure your head is tilted back, to avoid your hair getting tangled.

Tip: After washing the shampoo out, pat your hair lightly on the sides all the way down to the ends of your hair with water. This will ensure that your hair is detangled without breaking it by combing it out.

CONDITIONING

Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Restoring Conditioner

I’ve been using this product for ages and I am in complete love and awe of it. It smells so amazing, like beyond incredible, purely because of the peppermint oil but regardless I love how soft and moisturised it leaves my hair. I have a very dry scalp so the cocoa butter restores and leaves my hair feeling really great after washing it out. You will also feel a slight tingle but most of all, your hair will feel cleansed, nourished and moisturised.

HOW TO USE

  • Apply an even amount of conditioner to wet hair, making sure the lather is applied from the ends of your hair to the scalp.
  • Massage scalp for 5 - 10 minutes. (I always love to apply an extra amount of conditioner to my scalp to make sure it gets extra nourished)
  • Leave conditioner in for another 2 minutes and lightly comb out hair with a wide-tooth conditioner comb to detangle hair. Make sure you start combing from the ends of your hair, and work your way up. This will ensure that you do not pull out hair whilst doing this.
  • Wash out conditioner with clean water, making sure that your hair is tangle free and straight.

TREATMENT CONDITIONER

Design Essentials Restoring Conditioner

I was recommended to try this product from my hair specialist a couple of months ago. The first time I used it - honestly, the best. If you leave this in for couple of minutes and massage your scalp. This product is amazing if you have dry and damaged hair or weave / extensions. They restore the moisture so easily.

HOW TO USE

  • Apply an even amount of conditioner to wet hair, making sure the lather is applied from the scalp down to the ends of your hair.
  • Massage scalp for 3 minutes.
  • Leave product in for another 10 minutes with a shower cap on top.
  • Remove shower cap, and lightly comb out hair with a wide-tooth conditioner comb to detangle hair. Make sure you start combing from the ends of your hair, and work your way up. This will ensure that you do not pull out hair whilst doing this.
  • Wash out product with clean water, making sure that your hair is tangle free and straight.

PRE-STYLE

Kair’s Leave-In Conditioner Spray or Palmer's Leave-In Conditioner Spray

I love leave in conditioners because they leave enough amount of moisture in your hair before you blow-dry. I’ve been using Kair’s Leave-In Conditioner Spray for as long as I can remember because it smells amazing and leaves your hair feeling soft and silky. One of the things I love doing with Leave- Conditioner Spray, is spraying it all over if I don’t intend to blow-dry my hair or leave it curly. If you have curly hair then this spray is so amazing to keep your hair with the right amount of moisture. You can also spray this in after washing your hair before bed, then plait your hair in braids and wrap your hair up in head scarf if you don’t intend to blow dry it, then you achieve an beautiful curly affect in the morning.

HOW TO USE

  • Spray an even amount to clean wet hair, making sure you spray from the scalp down to the ends of your hair.
  • Massage scalp for  2 minutes and lightly comb hair out. Remember to comb from the ends of your hair first, then work your way up to your scalp, to avoid breaking your hair.
  • Then spray heat-defence and blow dry as desired with a heat ceramic brush.

BLOW DRY SPRAY

TRESemme Heat Defense Styling Spray

I’ve used this spray for years and years and years, and not once has it ever disappointed. Heat defence products are such an important step to haircare. Your hair needs heat defence products in order to stay treated in high heat conditions. It is very essential not leave this step out if you blow dry your hair a lot or straighten it out often.

HOW TO USE

  • Spray an even amount to clean wet hair, making sure you spray from the scalp down to the ends of your hair.
  • Remember to comb from the ends of your hair first, then work your way up to your scalp, to avoid breaking your hair.
  • Then blow dry as desired with a heat ceramic brush.

AFTER HAIR CARE

Kair’s Hair Serum or John Freida's Frizz Free Hair Serum.

The Kair hair serum is a product I used years back, still one of my favourites but it is quiet hard to find in the stores. Serum’s are really good for adding moisture to your hair without making and leaving your hair extremely oily. Serum’s moisturise and usually take away frizz depending on the product. The John Freida Frizz Free Hair Serum is perfect for your hair, extensions and weaves, it locks in moisture, takes frizz away and leaves hair silky smooth. This products should be used every 1 - 2 days or whenever your hair feels dry. You can do this step before or after blow dry. I usually do it after so I can judge the dryness of my hair.

HOW TO USE

  • Pump about 3-5 pumps of serum into hands. Rub both hands together.
  • Apply an even amount to clean hair, making sure you apply from the ends of your hair to the scalp.
  • Apply by gently combing through your hair with your fingers.

Anyway, that’s it from me. I hope you enjoyed this blog post and if you did - please leave some suggestions, comments to let me know if you’ve tried any of these products or any products you use that you think I should give a try.

Love - K. x
